Puerto Princesa Underground River

Puerto Princesa Underground River is indeed beautiful, a truly Philippines' great treasure :) When I saw this place, I realized how lucky I am to see this wonderful nature right inside our country and I am proud to say it that Philippines is really amazing *wink!!
Puerto Princesa Higlights :)
Anyway for those who didn't know: The Underground River/Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is now one of the new 7 wonders of nature. A UNESCO world heritage site and one of the longest navigable underground rivers in the world. Wow! Tours here nowadays are being regulated by the our government and if you wish to visit this tourist destination, you'll have to book in advance. Its so popular now and if you guys were planning to visit on a peak season well, think again hehe.
On our way to Sabang port and all you can see is a green leafy background with Limestone hills on the side

On our 2nd day in Puerto Princesa, the rented van fetched us as early as 7am and we travel for about two hours to reach the Sabang port. Long butt aching ride is awesome, I'll tell you that the ride itself is an amazing one..lol Specially when we passed by on a zigzag road called "bituka ng manok" lol haha (a one roller coaster ride!!) On the road you will see lots of Limestone Mountains and tall natives trees a really stress free vacation!

Upon arrival to Sabang port, we wait for a few more minutes while our tour guide processed  for our permit and environmental fee cost (40 pesos each). She took in charge of everything kudos to ate tour guide :)
Me and the rest of the gang at Sabang port waiting for our permit :)
Tip: Make sure to bring a valid ID with you when you register for a permit.
When everything is set!..all aboard in a small boat (capacity of 6 persons).
What I loved the most while on board is that, weather is pretty nice that time.. thanks God we were able to see the amazing scenery. The big Mountains and a peaceful sea. :
After a minutes of boat ride, here it goes.. the boat will park in a white sand beach where you can see a tall Limestone Mountain that definitely catch your eyes. There is also a big sign in the entrance telling you that YOU ARE ALMOST THERE :P . As if,  we had this quick shots before we headed on to the trail going to the underground river lol :) [mga pasaway lang ang peg lol]
A limestone rock that invites people to say cheeez!!! :)
Park signs can be found everywhere to educate everyone on what to see and what to expect, reminders and do's and don't. :). You need to take a short walk going to the entrance of the cave and along the way you will see bunch of monkeys playing and chasing around and some say there is also a huge lizard "bayawak" who spotted on that place roaming around :) but i haven't seen one.. hmm maybe tulog lol.

At last!. here I am standing in front of the entrance of Underground River. The water is so clean and calm. A beautiful scenery you can never imagine hiding on those big cliffs and it feels great to see and hear the chirping sound of bird flying on the the trees. Most of them are "Balinsasayaw Birds" it was a famous bird :) WHY? because of their nest. They can make their own nest made out of their own saliva and it is so expensive bird nest according to our tour guide.
amazing view outside the cave
We then board on a small paddle banca and since we are all 11 and we didn't fit in one boat so they decided to divided us into a two group. They will assigned one person to hold the very large flashlight and so happened to be my friend Ryan haha who sited in front [picture below]. The one who is holding the flashlight will be directed by the boatman where to point the light .
off to go!! haha Ryan keep playing on the flashlight! :)
On our way inside... looks like little creepy  and will notice a foul smell  as you get closer to to the cave they say it comes from the bats poops :)
The entire tour inside the cave takes 40-45 minutes. Digital camera like mine is really hard to use specially on a dark cave haha i find it hard to focus on one object plus my flash is not good enough to capture some of it.. too bad :(
Leny and I takes much effort in setting up our own digital camera to get a good shot inside  :)
Our boatman told us lot of informative stories and he also let our imagination runs on some of stalactites and stalagmites looks like. Good thing our boat man is so talkative and funny. Kudos for the man who work so hard. i know its not that easy talking and paddling a banca at the same time. hooray for you manong bagkero!! :)

Here are some of good picture i have on my camera :) hope you guys like it.

Your imagination will run inside the cave as you will see lot of rock formations that is incredible.
Our tour cost only 4,800K for each person (fare not included) it covered the hotel accommodation (only breakfast included) at Liberty Park Pension, fireflies watching, city tour included tiangge, bakers house, Mangrove and a TAMILOK hunting lol, underground river, and a buffet lunch. [affordable isn't it] di kasi peak season  :P

I dare you guys to visit this place and i'll tell you its really worth it :) Explore the underground river and be proud. Palawan is one of my favorite summer getaway  and no wonder  that Puerto Princesa Underground River is really the best. :) hope you guys take time to explore our country :) so start now here at PUERTO PRINCESA :)
