Swedish Passport is finally here - Citizenship Journey

My Swedish passport is finally here! πŸ˜‰

When I received my Swedish Citizenship December last year, I am so eager and excited to apply for my National ID and Swedish passport. So as soon as all the holidays is finally over and all the government offices here are fully back into business, my husband and I decided to apply for our Swedish passport. (At last! after 1 month LOL! I almost forget about it seriously!). After 3 years of living life here in Sweden with my swede husband, I can officially call myself a Swede!...and I'm loving it! even more better now that I have my Swedish Passport too!

Processing of getting a passport here in Sweden is quite different from what I’m used to in the Philippines (well! you know what I mean if you experienced the old way of getting a passport before sa Pinas πŸ˜‰ I'll tell you its like conquering the highest mountain of the PH just to get into the top! but I hear nowadays there's a lot of  improvement going on with the new admin unlike before :) that is good to hear). Anyway what I noticed  here is that, there’s no formal application process, no long queue or forms to fill-up for you to apply just bring your self and your valid ID's then off to go. Although I bought all my important documents with me that time they didn't even bother to check it up πŸ˜‰ .

REMINDER πŸ‘‰⇨ Persons who recently received his/her Swedish citizenship:

When a person with foreign citizenship becomes a Swedish citizen, it takes few days before the information will be added to the National Accounts Register by the Swedish Tax Agency. So If you apply for a passport or national ID card BEFORE the information has been submitted, you MUST include the Swedish citizenship decision in original from the Swedish Migration Board

All passports and national ID cards are handled through the Police office. Yup! u hear me right? in the POLICE OFFICE so better behave your butt off and be nice hehe. If you live in Stockholm you can simply go to bokapassitstockholm to book for an appointment and if happen you are not living in Stockholm just like me. Find the nearest Police office near you and inquire about it because some police office allowed drop-in applicants and some don't so better check it ahead of time before going there so you will not waste your time and effort.

It feel strange, overjoy and at the same time so thankful of this big blessing I've received today. What a nice early gift for me this Christmas πŸ˜.  Just thinking to become a citizen of another country other than the one you were born in is really a blessing and I'm so grateful about that. I honestly didn’t think it would ever come so early, or that it could ever be happen (well if you don't know, before hand I was so scared and little bit down to the maximum level but I tried my best to stay calm and to think positive as much as possible), and yes I did it. I have been living in Sweden for almost 3 years now and thought that it was the right time to apply and glad I did it. Together with the certificate is my original passport that I've sent them before (they just return it back).

Swedish Citizenship Application - Citizenship Journey

This is it pansit! Goodluck to me πŸ˜Š
Today is the day that I will send my Swedish Citizenship application through post, although I already apply it online (it is a requirement and it a must!). I'am  a bit nervous about it but at the same time my heart is full with excitement!  I can't help thinking about what will gonna happen next (think positive Michelle!).

Anyway highway! before I decided to apply for my citizenship this year, I did a couple of research on my own because I wanted to make sure if I am really eligible to apply for it.  Someone told me I needed to reside here in Sweden for 5 years, some of my friends say 3 years with permanent permit and other say to try my luck and send LOL! I have lot of Filipina friends who had recently applied for their Swedish citizenship and surprisingly their stories where extremely different to one other. Some was approve in only a weeks, some takes months and some still had not yet hear any response to their application. So confused  about it so I headed to the Migrationsverket site to gather more information πŸ˜‰ a 100% detailed I must say LOL. If you like to know more you can check the SITE  πŸ‘ˆ

Finally got my Swedish PERMANENT Residence Permit / PUT

I'm just so happy :) I am now a permanent resident of Sweden! been waiting this for almost 2 years now and I didn't expect that I will received the decision early this week since we only apply it last Friday. Any way high way, my panget is so happy and thankful about it. So it means celebration time!!!as what Swedish called it for cheers!! *SKΓ…L till Alla πŸΈπŸΈ

This is the best gift ever for me on my birthday this coming 18 and I'm still in a cloud-nine feeling right now.

So for now, I'm just waiting for my card to arrive at home ( Oh btw yesterday, we went to Migration Service Centre in GΓΆteborg to have my finger prints and picture taken for my new residence card (BIOMETRIC AGAIN). They told me that they will send it via regular mail after 3 weeks. We also have little celebration at home with a cake and drinks πŸ»

For those who don't know, renewing your visa/applying for an extension was a fairly easy process as long as you have your documents ready.

You must apply before your permit expires and as what I've experience on it you can not apply online earlier than 6 months of the expiry date. I try to apply earlier than that and then the migrationsverket's website said to me that I cannot apply more than 30 days before the expiration date so better wait guys πŸ˜‰

so after living in here for another five years but some say I can apply for my Swedish Citizenship after 3 yrs having a Residence permit but hmm let see it then if I am able to apply for my citizenship after a year and have a Swedish passport πŸ˜š soon .I'll just wait for that of course (better not think about it for now πŸ˜‰).

So that's for now guys! I'll update you once I get my card soon πŸ‘

Welcome to SFI [VΓ€lkommen till SFI]

Welcome to SFI !
I attend my SFI class a couple of weeks now and I'm still confused and puzzled if I can make it or not argh! its prety hard thou! lol! :( but i know in my heart that I can...I Cannn!!!!!!! hihi seriously, I found it hard and mind-boggling when it comes to the grammar they have lots of rules to think about: the en and ett words plus the pronunciation too.. etc argh!.

When I moved to Sweden I often worrying about not fitting in with the culture :( because of a language barrier but I try my best in everything, to learn as much as possible. I know how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to go to SFI and learn. So instead of making my self feeling down I take it as a challenge :) I know sooner or later all my efforts will definitely worth it ;)

I'm happy because my experience at school is not that horrible that I thought would be.. Just a little nerve-wreaking experience at my first week hahaha because all of my classmate is already good and fluent in Swedish. My first week was really outcast that you eat lunch alone (picture above), have fika alone and always nodded and smile like you understand everything Lol! There's a point that you just looking at the clock on the wall and count the remaining time left :). My teacher and classmates were talking Swedish all the time and I couldn't understand anything promise hehe! and it made me feel kind of stressed out btw got headache when I come home hahaha. Other than that I made lots of friends :) I have new friends now Jane from Australia and Barbra from Holland. I'm lucky all my classmates are nice and accommodating.

Lets try my Swedish now :)

  • Jag heter Michelle :)        --- My name is Michelle
  • Jag kommer frΓ₯n Filippinerna --- I come from Philippines.
  • hur Γ€r det?                  --- how are you?
  • Bra, tack. Och du?           --- Good, thanks. And you?
  • VΓ€lkommen                    --- Welcome
  • Jag talar Engelska           --- I speak English.
  • Pratar du Svenska?           --- Do you speak Swedish?
  • Jag fΓΆstΓ₯r (inte.)           --- I (don't) understand.
  • Ursekta                      --- Excuse me
  • FΓΆrlΓ₯t                       --- Sorry
  • Vi ses senare                --- See you later
  • Vi ses snart                 --- See you soon
  • Jag Γ€lskar dig               --- I love you
  • jag saknar dig               --- I miss you
  • Hej dΓ₯                       --- Bye
  • Hej                          --- Hi

SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) here I come!! :)

My schedule, My books and CD.... IM READY!!! :)
This coming Monday is my first day at SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), a language program to help immigrants like me to learn to speak Swedish and become familiar with everything culture and stuff, Oh God help me and guide me, Goodluck to me!! :( I need to adjust my self and start to say "back to school again!

Last week, I already talked to one of my teacher, she just ask me some questions and told me everything about SFI. I called it little interview haha :) She said that the purpose of that little interview is to determined which class I would be because there are 4 levels in SFI(A to D!). As  I've had formal education back home and somewhat can speak another language (english) aside of my mother language which is Filipino :) they put me in level C-D. She also said if I pass this level up to level D, I can continue to a more advance course and continue again into university course type called SAS (Swedish as a Second Language). Classes are divided accordingly where in Level A-B is for people who have had little education in their homeland, Level B-C is the general start point where the student has spend many years of schooling, but not familiar with the alphabet while Level C-D is for the student with college education and who wish to pursue further studies in Sweden.

To be eligible for free classes you must be a legal resident of Sweden at syempre dapat my personal number at ID na kayo :). Goodluck to me! baka dumugo ng bongga ang ilong ko hahaha No matter what!! kayang kaya yan at walang hindi nadadaan sa sipag at tiyaga :) hehehe

Applying for my Swedish ID card :)

My husband and I went to Skatteverket in TrollhΓ€ttan yesterday to apply for my Swedish ID card because even if I already have my personal number to prove my personal identification is not good enough. Whether I like it or not, one of the most important things I should have here is that personal number and Swedish Identity card or any approved form of ID's plus I need it para sa SFI ko (swedish lesson). Living here without any approved ID card can get annoying and irritating promise,no joke! duh! malay ko ba sa mga ID diba.. haha satin naman kasi sa dami nating ID basta valid pwede na dito sobrang higpit nila pagdating sa mga documents.

Come to think of it! this card is very important as it allows you to open a bank account di basta basta na passport lang, when you use your credit card (if you have any, good thing di ako nagamit ng mga creditcard haha), taking SFI (Swedish Lesson), when collecting your big package, post or padala from abroad, when collecting prescription medication sa mga pharmacy na di rin basta bastang bibili ka lang ng gamot sa botika hahaha. Having this card will make your everyday life transactions more efficiency.

Back again, make sure you have payed the application fee amounting 400 SEK before applying and they will surely ask that on you ;) when you go to their office. Pay it online is much better just bring out the payment printout, your documents, your self and be ready for another kakakabang experience Lol!. When moving to Sweden, you will gonna love the word efficiency and punctuality hahaha (sobrang husay ng kanilang mga proseso na hindi mo na kinakilangang magkanda-hirap hirap sa pag pila at pag apply at ng kung ano anong document mo. Hindi rin uso ang salitang Late napaka-punctual nila lagi on time pag nalate ka asahan mo na ang reaction sa mukha nila at siguradong mahihiya ka hahahaha).

So when we get there, they just ask for my passport and residence card. The woman who process my application checked my documents at sobrang mabusisi hahaha plus konting kwentuhan whola! picture lang, kinuha yung aking height at pinapirma then tapos :) haha.

she said na makukuha ko daw yung card after 6 weeks which i don't know why 6 weeks lol.. pero nothing to worry naman daw. Excited lang ako hahaha mas nauna pang dumating yung IKEA membership card ko hahha so hanggang dito nalng muna and I let you know sa aking card :)

Sweden: I got my Personal Number/Personnummer

Welcome to Sweden (VΓ€lkommen till Sverige)
It's been two months now since I left and kiss goodbye to my family and friends back home and I can't imagine how time flies so fast. I can still remember my first day in Sweden year 2010 where everything is so different from my home country, everything is so new to me :). Travelling alone was a new experience, and I was so scared and nervous as it was my first time abroad. Anyway, I'm so happy to be back again after my last year visit. Spending time with my husband   now is so priceless :) He is my number one priority as of now.

Aside of planning out to go to school this year, my husband told me that I need to have my Personal number/Personnummer first. They say once you moved and live in Sweden you must apply for your Personal Number that enable you to unlock your new world haha :) because without it you can't do anything, without it is impossible to do the most important task like going to the doctor or hospital, attending to school, finding a job or even opening your personal bank account. Amazing right? I wonder how important it is!!! that tiny little number will surely makes a difference and rock your life :)

Anyway, let me tell you guys first what is Personal number/Personnummer. Swedish Personal number is a unique identification number that is based on your birth date and will remain the same for your entire life in Sweden. This number allows you to become part of the Swedish system and serve as your personal identification. So when you received your residence permit you are required to register with the Swedish Tax Agency or Skatteverket. This population registration which everyone living in Sweden must register for to be entered into the system as a tax-paying resident.

Visit this site for info--- CLICK HERE

My husband and I went to Skattverket in VΓ€nersborg last month to apply for my personal number with all my surprise it was fast and easy transaction :). I armed myself with confidence and documents and whola!! everything run so smooth :). They gave me a form to fill in and asked for a copy of my passport, marriage certificate, residence card and ID's. They say it takes up to week but for me it only count 3 days and I got my result. I received a mail from them and guess what!! this was the very FIRST ever letter I got since I move to Sweden with my name written on it was a good feeling...hihi :)
My first ever letter :)
I know this is only just a start :) So guys, make sure you are updated and aware of everything surrounds you. Know your rights and duty as a new citizen in a foreign country. Sabi nga nila kelangang maging matapang, mausisa at matibay ang loob :) hehehe  so until next time... back to school!!!! :)

Sweden here I come - (NAIA terminal 3)

Today is my big day! Sweden here I come :)
After all the hardship I have been through in processing all of my documents..finally!! I can say at last!!! hehe with my tickets, certificates and approved visa I knew there was no turning back. This is it!

Moving to a foreign country is one of the biggest transitions I can ever make. Thinking about the place without a good job and not knowing single word of their language is really frustrating and hard for me. I know I made my decision right and whatever comes my way I will take it as a new experiences and challenges. Anyway to cut the story short here I am again, traveling all by myself. I just want to share you guys what to do before your international flight para maiba naman :)

Departure date: Oct 26,2014

Departing from NAIA terminal 3 is really annoying mapa-ano mang terminal kayo make sure to check-in as early as you can po nowadays! sobrang traffic pa papuntang airport at ang mga mahaba-habang pila na iyong dadanasin bago ka makasakay sa eroplano mo eh sakit kagad ng ulo para sa mga first timer dyan eto ang maibibigay ko na tips!.. hehehe

Important things to remember before our departure date:

1. You need to be at the airport at least 2 hours before you schedule departure time. Mas maaga mas maganda para mas marami kang time to check your things :) kasi in case you forgot something important at home, you still have time to go back and get it diba.

2. DOCUMENTS - Passport, printed flight itinerary/tickets, visa and CFO certificate. Lahat ng importanteng document nyo dalhin nyo na :) ilagay nyo na ito sa isang envelope.

3. MONEY - Don't forget that you need to pay 550 for your terminal fee and 1,620 php in cash for your travel tax only if you bought your ticket online. (Bago kayo mag check-in magbayad muna kayo ng travel tax dahil minsan mahaba ang pila don)

Bangkok, Thailand-(Residence Permit Biometric Process)

My residence permit requires me to visit the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok Thailand just to leave my biometric (btw you can do that for just one whole day!). So I was thinking, instead of just going there for my biometric why not get a tour package at the same time right? (personal and tour just in one!!) and of course I want to explore the place naman and see more of Bangkok, Thailand 😊

Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok, Thailand
When my family and I arrived in Bangkok, we proceed and check in at Salil Hotel at Soi 8. I will recommend this hotel a 100 % worth of stay. WIFI is good, excellent food and staff are amazing! better check it and say hello to the receptionist which is a Filipina too, yep! she is Pinay like me 😊 so its easy for us to get along with right? hahaha.

I would suggest you to book in this hotel if you will going to take your Biometric in Swedish Embassy in Bangkok. This hotel is not too far from the Embassy and it only take 10 minutes walk from hotel to the Embassy. I tell you, you will not regret staying in here and they have free breakfast that is buffet style hahaha which is I really love :) eat till you drop!!

Salil Hotel at Soi 8 :)
Breakfast is buffet style. There are  lot of choice for those who prefer a more traditionally western breakfast. They also serve thai breakfast too. Pour your own coffee and make your own tea., juice or water.. :)

They run a golf cart to help their guest to drop to Nana BTS train station :)
We stayed 4D/3nights in Bangkok and I decided to allot one whole day just for my biometric process. I really wanted to make sure that I will not stress out on time and be rushed on everything. Guess what!! I finished it in just 10 minutes! in my surprise. I went there early in the morning just to make sure I am early (as they say "Early bird catches the worm), so 8am to be exact and I am the first applicant in the line. πŸ˜‰ Good thing is that, Swedish embassy is only just 10 mins walk from my hotel. That is why I highly recommend this Salil Hotel.

My Queue Ticket show number 5 LOL im the first applicant πŸ˜‰

Swedish Embassy in Bangkok
20th F, One Pacific Place 140 Sukhumvit Road,
between soi 4 and soi 6 bangkok Thailand.

Biometric takes only for 10 minutes or less especially if you are early in the line and keep in mind that the embassy gets more busy in the middle of the day so better be early as much as possible. Embassy officer is really nice and accommodating just present your Beslut (decision) and passport to them and they will just take a photo of you, weight, height, finger prints and signature and that was it!! so easy! before you leave they will give you a information sheet where you can call to update your card.

After that ... the tour is about to begin! :)

DISCLAIMER: This is only based on my experiences and my little knowledge that I gained through out the years. Please also NOTE that requirements often change. CFO Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) | FiancΓ©(e)’s, Spouses, and Partners

Well, my last STEP before I say "bye Pinas!". When I got  my residence card  the consulate reminds me to attend a seminar at CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) to get the CFO CERTIFICATE and EMIGRANT STICKER on my passport (REQUIRED and its a must!!). They inform me that the immigration officer at the airport will check this document together with my visa before my departure so I need to secure and provide these documents.

I wanted to be ready with all the important documents so I apply for my schedule instantly hahaha because, I didn't want to experience being held for questioning on the day of my departure which is too much hassle or might get worst to be offloaded on my plane!.. which I don't want to happen on me lol πŸ˜ƒ
