CALENDULA ORANGE SOAP | MY SECOND BATCH OF SOAP

[WATCHinHD] Hello Superfriends! I'm back sa balakubak! This video is not a tutorial. I just only want to share my first experience in making a handmade soap. I'm soo freaking proud of myself! Woot woot! I cannot believe that I am making my second batch of soap now πŸ›€. I already made my first batch which is the lavender bastille soap and if you want to check it here is my link:

Lavender Bastille soap
I always wanted to try making my own bar of soap and watching tons of soap making videos help me to pursue doing it. So here I am sharing you all guys the result of my second batch of soap and I will call it Calendula Orange Soap, what a fulfilling feeling when you saw your soap looking perfect when you removed it out from the mold.

My Calendula Orange Soap
By the way in this recipe, I followed Organicmaker's recipe w/c is classic bastille soap with lavender. But instead using Lavender essential oils and buds, I will be using orange essential oils and marigolds flower. It is all natural  soap with coconut and pure olive oil πŸ‘Œ and it smells amazzing!. I will used Olive oil that is a common base oil used in soap making and it makes a nice hard bar of soap, it is also very mild, and in combination with other oils will give you a nice dense lather. On the other way around, the coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer for both skin and hair. The properties of the coconut oil also help remove dead skin cells and dirt away from the body, that is why they are both perfect combo for your soap.

Bili na kayo Chos!!! LOL So lets start making this soap!

INGREDIENTS:
149 g Water
64 g Lut NaOH, Sodium Hydroxide
OILS / FATS:
135 g Coconut Oil
315 g Extra Virgin Olive Oil
8 g essential orange oil
barely 1/2 tsp Radical Orange mica about
2 tbsp (5 g) Calendula flowers

RECIPE DETAILS:
Total amount of oils / fats: 450 g
Of which:
Olive oil: 70%
Coconut oil: 30%

Overfat 5%
Lye concentration 30%
Water: Lut ratio: 2.333: 1
Additives: about 15 g
Total weight soaped: about 678 g

πŸ‘Œ You can check the recipe here:

RECIPE DIRECTIONS:

πŸ“Œ STEP ONE

Make the Lye Solution and don't forget to wear protective gloves and eye-wear (goggles), carefully pour the (sodium hydroxide) into the distilled water until dissolved. REMEMBER : Always add NaOH (Lut,sodium hydroxide) in small portions to water, NEVER pour water over NaOH (Lut,sodium hydroxide). Work in an area with good ventilation and be careful not to breathe in the fumes. The lye solution will get very hot, so set it aside to cool down. I prepare mixing it an hour before and totally leave it to cool down completely.

πŸ“Œ STEP TWO

Prepare your oils as what the required weight, then pour the cooled lye solution into your oils (my oils is in room temperature). Use immersion blender until it thickens and reaches trace. Trace is when the soap has thickened enough so when you drizzle a small amount of your batter across the surface, it will leave a  visible imprint which they called “trace”. Trace can take a minute or so, depending on how warm your ingredients are and how much you use your immersion blender. You can now add you essential oils and other additive you'd like to add on your soap.

 πŸ“Œ STEP THREE

You can now pour the soap batter into the mold. If you like your soap completely colorless it is okey but I like the same as in the picture, so I only pour about 3/4 of the batter into the mold, and then I mix in the radical orange Mica in the remaining batter that I have. Then I fill in the mold with the colored batter, and top it with some dried lavender flowers.

πŸ“Œ STEP FOUR

Now our soap is finish! it should go through gel phase and harden so wrap the mold with some insulating material like bath tower or baking paper or blanket, so that the heat that develops will work properly. Peek at the soap every so often; if it starts developing a crack or what so ever hehe, uncover and move it to a cooler location.

πŸ“Œ STEP FIVE

Keep the soap in the mold for 1 to 2 days, or until it’s easy to remove, then slice it into bars when it’s firm enough not to stick to your cutting tool. If you have used lavender flowers on top, cut the soap upside down so that the flowers do not strip the soap when you cut it.

Cure it in a cooling racks or sheets of wax paper for about 4-6 weeks before it is safe to use. The soap is safe to touch without gloves 48 hours after making it, but it still needs extra time to allow excess moister to evaporate out so the bars  will become harder and last long in your shower.

If you are thinking about making your own homemade soap, do it! I highly recommend it.It doesn't matter if you're never made a soap before just enjoy it and experience it with your own hands! Its fun and easy.

It is just for entertainment purposes only. Don't do this without research and learning the safety rules. (Watch my youtube video down below to see how I make it this Lavender soap.)
