Enjoying the day!! I really like this picture.. it looks like we are free and happy! |
FIRST STOP OVER: Catarman Church Ruins (Gui-Ob Church). According to wiki search the Old Catarman Church Ruins is located in Bonbon, it was the remains of the 1871 volcanic eruption that wiped out Catarman which was a picture of the illustrious Spanish settlement that was established in 1697, only the adobe walls and belfry was left as of today that survived the devastating wrath of nature. Nakaka-amazed yung structure kasi sabi ni manong tourist guide eh gawa daw sa corals yung church which is true nga :D

That afternoon we decided to visit the sunken cemetery. Our hired driver said, its nice to see the sunset over that big cross. Our manong tourist guide is just a local who lives nearby on that church
and he is truly amazing. When he speak, you can only say oh! really?.. nice!..ang galing naman!.. He is really informative kaya it's nice to give him some tip and appreciation :) kudos for him!! hehe :)
SECOND STOP OVER : We also visit the Station of the Cross. Manong driver said that it takes 2 to 4 hours to climb and walk on that stairs so we decided to had some photo nalang coz were running out of time to visit some nice spot pa if we climb :).

the cross marker at the back :) |
THIRD STOP OVER: Cross Marker, Sunken Cemetery. It was already 4 p.m. when we reached this next spot. We were running out of time to do some snorkeling coz its already sunset (wala nang mga fish lol kiddin') but we had a chance to rent a small banca from a local and offered us to reach the cross marker to have some pictures as a souvenir hehehe. Its only 20 petot per head. The boat is just an ordinary boat no life vest, not a kind of motor banca and only tree person are allowed to ride on it :) since we are all six, we have to slit into two groups hahaha :)
From that cross you can see the beautiful sunset and the volcanoes in the Island :) really awesome!!!
According to wiki search: During the volcanic birth of the Mt. Vulcan that lasted from 1871 to about 1875, some areas in the town of Bonbon subsided, sinking the cemetery of the town to below sea level. The place is commemorated by a huge cross erected in 1982.
According to some locals who lives there : The sunken land and some of the gravestones can still be seen when the tide is low. But when the volcano erupted again and sink the area much deeper. A year passed.. A large cross was built to mark the site that became the graves of the ancestors of the Camiguin people. It has become a sunken cemetery.

LAST STOP OVER for that day: Ardent Hot Spring non other than hot spring in the the middle of the Island :) for only 30 petot a great place to unwind and relax after the whole day visiting some of the Island's tourist spot. In this place there are huts and benches that you can rent to place your belongings or sit in. It is probably best to go at night so you can easily enjoy the warm water plus the man-made small falls on the pools lol, the water is 39 or 40 Celsius and you can boil egg on it hehe. Overall very relaxing and a great way to unwind and RELAX!!.
